GULLS, TERNS-Tern, Arctic 2009.5.5#124.5X. One of the most remarkable birds on earth. They travel the longest distance in migration of any other bird. An average yearly trip is around 25,000 miles. Because of their longevity, approximately 25 years. They travel enough miles in their life to reach the moon 3 times. This bird was captured in Potter Marsh, south of Anchorage Alaska. Later in the summer this bird will back back on the ice in Antarctica for the rest of the year before coming back here again next spring.
