ID-F-CLARKIA-DEERHORN (Clarkia pulchella) 2018.7.1#3476. Also called Pink Fairies. Discovered by Lewis Meriwether on a steep hillside near Kamiah Idaho. Described afterwards by Clark. Clark described the corolla superior as four pale purple petals which are tripartite. It later became the type species for Clarkia. Certainly eye catching in form and color. I found these fairly abundant in ID and MT but most were on steep mostly unclimbable rocky banks. This image was captured near the top of White Bird Grade Idaho.
