Clark described the corolla superior as four pale purple petals which are tripartite. It later became the type species for Clarkia. Certainly eye catching in form and color. I found these fairly abundant in ID and MT but most were on steep mostly unclimbable rocky banks. This image was captured near the top of White Bird Grade Idaho.
