  • 1-2011.9.13#268. A bull & cow moose are staring toward several other bulls working their way. I was accompanied by Vic Van Ballenberg the Denali Park moose biologist this day. This bull featured has just run a larger bull off. It was a dramatic event as the setting sun was casting these coppery golden hues on the scene. We are on the top of the outer Range hills looking over the broad expanse of the Savage country with a backdrop of the main south Alaska Range behind the moose. And yes it's all compressed shooting the moose at 200mm. Denali Park Alaska. I have started to develop more images from this evening. Go to image Moose-2011.9.13 further on in this gallery.

  • 23-2010.8.12#102.4. One of the largest and oldest Brown Bears to ever live on the Alaska Peninsula since before the last ice Age. He was observed during his life at Brooks Falls and here at McNeil Falls sometimes in the same years. Not an extraordinary distance compared to other wildlife travels. But given his age (23 years now) and weight , 49 miles is a pretty good hike. He claimed his fishing hole many years ago. No other bear ever bother's him. He has just captured another Chum Salmon. More images of this brown bear and many others maybe seen farther along in the Brown Bear section of this Gallery.
