  • 41-2008.9.5#043.4XX. A super wide bull moose with unusual long shanked antler formation. This was his peak year, I got to observe him again in 2009 very near this same area but his antlers were declining in size. Near mile eleven, Denali Park Alaska.

  • 51-2019.1.17#055. Stalking Desert rams. Photo by my buddy Rick Ullery.
  • 53-2012.10.11#214.8XXX. A tremendous Barren Ground caribou. Heavy antlers with beautiful symmetry and great mass in the palmation of his tops. He is really cranked up, the "rut" is on. He is aggressively thrashing the willow brush with blood shot eyes and vocalizing almost nonstop. He belongs to the Nelchina herd of the Denali Country Alaska.
  • 55-An old bull Muskox browsing in Dwarf Fireweed along the Sagavanirktuk River. North Slope Alaska.
  • 57-1985.3.6#004. My first opportunity to shoot a Rocky Mountain Bighorn ram. Mount Margaret, Alberta Canada. Scanned from 30 year old film stock. See newer digital images of Wild Sheep in the Sheep section of this large Mammal Gallery.
  • 59-2009.8.28#118.4. What a lucky opportunity catching this great bull emerging from these willows with all his velvet still intact. Denali Park, Alaska.
  • 61-2008.10.14#231. A Barren Ground Caribou bull pauses for a portrait. Denali Country, eastern Alaska Range, Alaska.
  • 63-2012.9.11#159. This bull moose has lived for 16 or 17 years in Denali National Park. I've photographed him for many years and featured images of him several times before. I didn't think he would make it through the rough winter we had the year before, but here he is in good health tending several cows and very aggressively engaging and successfully warding off other bulls. Some larger then himself. This was his last year though. He was a warrior.

  • 73-2010.8.25#031. A curious Grizzly turns to check me out. Alaska Range, Alaska.
  • 75-1984.9#101. A special day following Grizzlys digging Ground Squirrels. Stoney Hill area, Denali Park, Alaska. A 1x2 ratio format is viewable in the brown/Grizzly bear section of this gallery. In Mishio Hoshino's Grizzly book are images almost identical of mine from this day. The bear catching squirrel show would have been an all time special day, but my son Guy was with me and getting to spend the day with Mishio made it even better. He was a great photographer, but a much better human being. Funny and full of life and so full of appreciation for every thing in the outdoor world.

  • 79-1987.8.15#3101. A really great Barren Ground Caribou bull. This shot was captured many years ago near the mouth of the "Sag" River. They are scanned from old film stock. North Slope, Alaska.
