CARIBOU, ALASKA-2012.10.22#028. Barren Ground bulls. The bull on the left is tending a small group of cows and  running two smaller satellite bulls. These animals belong to the Kenai lowland herd. The caribou on the Kenai Peninsula were historically Woodland caribou. They were extirpated around 1912. All four herds of caribou living now on the Kenai Peninsula were reintroduced from the Nelchina caribou herd. Kalifornsky Beach Road,Kenai Peninsula Alaska.

The caribou on the Kenai Peninsula were historically Woodland caribou. They were extirpated around 1912.
