BEAR, BROWN-2006.7.31#0087.9. A young bear fishing and hunting for salmon scraps in Russian River.

  • BEAR, BROWN-1997.7#25.3. This sow bear had 2 cubs. She was snorkeling in the Pink Salmon fishing hole when I spied her from the parking lot. I ran and got a camera and she immediately came right over to the base of the bank. The forest service had recently built a sturdy set of stairs just to the right of this view. When she dropped down and started for the river I slowly walked to the stairs for a better view. She immediately charged over and came half way up the stairs. When I got out of her sight I ran for my truck. There is no way to know but I always wondered if this was the Bear that mauled Dan Bigley a few years later. She was by far the largest most aggressive and scary sow I had ever seen at Russian River. Kenai Peninsula Alaska.

  • BEAR, BROWN-2006.8.10#1.2. This is not my image. It was sent to me by a F & Game person or a friend. I hadn't come across this image for a long time but thought it was interesting to show how close we lived with wildlife in Anchorage, Alaska.
