  • 41-2008.9.5#043.7. A super wide bull moose with unusual long shanked antler formation. This was his peak year as far as antler width. I got to observe him in 2009 at very near the same area and he was declining in antler size. Near mile eleven, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • 43-2009.9.16#069.7. A handsome Dall ram in classic mountain backdrop.
  • 45-2011.8.31#127.4. A really grand old bull. A redo of an old favorite from the Savage Country. Alaska.
  • 47-2012.5.26#210.4. A Grizzly sow that is cautiously leading her springer cubs up a ryolite slide in Polychrome Pass. Denali Park, Alaska.
  • 49-2012.8.21#259.5XXX. Two large bull caribou are sizing each other up with a sparring match. This is nothing like the fierce competition that will start in a couple of weeks. Denali Park Alaska.
  • 51-2019.1.17#055. Stalking Desert rams. Photo by my buddy Rick Ullery.
  • 53-2012.10.11#214.8XXX. A tremendous Barren Ground caribou. Heavy antlers with beautiful symmetry and great mass in the palmation of his tops. He is really cranked up, the "rut" is on. He is aggressively thrashing the willow brush with blood shot eyes and vocalizing almost nonstop. He belongs to the Nelchina herd of the Denali Country Alaska.
  • 55-An old bull Muskox browsing in Dwarf Fireweed along the Sagavanirktuk River. North Slope Alaska.
  • 57-1985.3.6#004. My first opportunity to shoot a Rocky Mountain Bighorn ram. Mount Margaret, Alberta Canada. Scanned from 30 year old film stock. See newer digital images of Wild Sheep in the Sheep section of this large Mammal Gallery.
  • 59-2009.8.28#118.6. I observed this bull numerous times very early in the mourning's and late in the evenings when it was too dark to photograph. When he emerged from these willows in mid day with his velvet still intact made this even more special. It was the first time I got to shoot him in good light. I got to see him quite a few more times this year and for the next several years. He became one of my favorites. Denali Park, Alaska.
  • 61-2008.10.4#231.c4. A real nice bull caribou gives me a brief chance for a couple of portrait shots before hurrying off to keep up with his herd. Denali Country Alaska.
  • 63-2012.9.11#159. This bull moose has lived for 16 or 17 years in Denali Park. I've photographed him for many years and featured images of him quite a few times before. I didn't think he would make it through the rough winter we had the year before, but here he is in good health tending several cows and very aggressively engaging and successfully warding off other bulls. Some larger then himself. This was his last year though. He was a warrior. Kind of fitting my last capture of him was the last couple minutes before the sun set in the Denali Country on this day.
  • 65-2012.8.21#061. A really great Barren Ground Caribou bull. Savage Canyon, Denali Park Alaska.
  • 67-1986.10#57.A Mountain Goat nanny & kid. Scanned from old film stock. Tern Lake, Kenai Peninsula, Alaska.
  • 69-2007.8.5#222.5. An old mature Musk Ox bull with great "Boss" and full turned up tips on his horns. Browsing in Willows near Happy Valley on the North Slope of Alaska.
  • 71-2010.9.4#277.3. A really great older bull moose with big symmetric palms and brows with lots of points in spectacular color. Savage Country, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • 73-2010.8.25#031. A curious Grizzly turns to check me out. Alaska Range, Alaska.
  • 75-1984.9#101. A special day following Grizzlys digging Ground Squirrels. Stoney Hill area, Denali Park, Alaska. A 1x2 ratio format is viewable in the brown/Grizzly bear section of this gallery. In Mishio Hoshino's Grizzly book are images almost identical of mine from this day. The bear catching squirrel show would have been an all time special day, but my son Guy was with me and getting to spend the day with Mishio made it even better. He was a great photographer, but a much better human being. Funny and full of life and so full of appreciation for every thing in the outdoor world.
  • 77-1983.9#59. Dall Sheep rams. "The Trio" scanned from old film stock, has been a popular image for over 40 years. Savage Canyon, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • 79-1987.8.15#3101. A really great Barren Ground Caribou bull. This shot was captured many years ago near the mouth of the "Sag" River. They are scanned from old film stock. North Slope, Alaska.
