M-2008.9.5#072. Alaska Moose. Denali Park Alaska.

  • M-2008.9.5#043.4XX. A super wide bull moose with an unusual long shanked antler formation. I found him several hours before this because of all the noise he made brush thrashing to get his velvet cleaned off. This was his peak year, I got to observe him again very near this same area in 2009 but his antlers were declining in size. Near mile eleven, Denali Park Alaska.
  • M-2008.9.5#043.7. A super wide bull moose with unusual long shanked antler formation. I found him by all the brush thrashing he was doing to clean his antlers off. This was his peak year as far as antler width. I found him near this same area and time in 2009 but his antlers were really declining in size. Eleven mile, Denali Park Alaska.

  • M-2008.9.12#103. Alaska Bull Moose. Maybe a healthy 2 to 3 year old with good genes. I have an image with the same bull 5 years later. See the first 2 images at the beginning of the main body of the moose images. Parks Highway, near Carlo Creek Alaska.
  • M-2008.9.20#084.2. Alaska moose. A bull from the old days. When I captured this image I had no idea how intimate I would get to know him and how special he would become. He was an alpha male and fought aggressively every year. He got many nick names, but the most appropriate was Scar Face. Long before the last year of his life he had no skin left what so ever on his fore head, just bare bone. Savage country, Denali Park Alaska.
  • M-2008.9.20#084.3. A bull Moose from the old days. When I captured this shot I couldn't imagine how intimate and special this bull would get to be for me. He was an alpha male and fought aggressively against many bulls much larger then himself. He got many nick names, but the most appropriate was scar face. Two years after I shot this image he had bare bone showing on his forehead. When he died his whole forehead between his antlers and half way down his nose were bare bone. Savage Country, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • M-2008.9.20#127.3. A bull moose tending a cow close to estrus. Between Primrose & Sanctuary, Denali Park Alaska.

  • M-2008.9.21#014 A grand old Alaska bull. I dubbed him "The Lord of the Kingdom" this year. Savage country, Denali Park Alaska.
  • M-2008.9.21#014.4. A heavy antlered bull that until this day I only ever saw at a long distance or in the dark. He became the "Lord of the Kingdom" this year. Savage Country, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • M-2008.9.29#050.3. A bull that grew an odd bayonet-like point from under his left palm several times. Anchorage Alaska.
  • M-2008.9.29#050.9. A bull I saw for over six years that grew an odd bayonet like point from underneath it's left antler every other year. Anchorage, Alaska. Another redo of the original image.
  • M-2008.9.29#056. Alaska Moose. same bull from the previous image. Anchorage, Alaska.
  • M-2008.9.29#081.6.
  • M-2008.10.1#010. A one antlered bull is trying to find a way through the McKinley fence. There is a smaller bull with two cows on the other side and the rut is on. near Kincaid Park, Anchorage Alaska.
  • M-2008.10.13#022.6. A really nice bull moose that I knew for a quite a few years. This is the original developing. This and the next two images are examples of how I've learned and with better equipment have toned down the blown out snow and corrected the white balance better. Anchorage, Alaska.
