Highlight Gallery & New Additions-Updated 2023.9.19.

The Images in this gallery are in random order, they represent some of the best that you can see many more of in the main body of Galleries.
Several months ago I had to upgrade my Graphics Card and Computer Screen. It made me aware of images I posted in too big of a hurry and others that I could develop better. I'm slowly going through this gallery first and trying to upgrade as many as possible.
Samples of the most recently added images are now being added to the beginning pages. All Images in this Gallery are protected by US copyright law. No images may be copied or downloaded without formal written permission from Tom Jesiolowski/Northland Arts Nature Images.

  • Another big ram down near the water in Turnagain Arm. 2009.12.4#090.3. South of Anchorage Alaska.
  • A Dall ram and ewe. 2009.12.4#044.3. The estrus is still on and five rams have followed a group of ewe's that have come down from the high cliffs after a big snow fall. Turnagain Arm, South of Anchorage, Alaska.

  • SD-2009.9.16#117.5. It was believed for a long time sheep and moose would not browse on Mountain Alders because of it's toxicity. But more recently biologist's have confirmed that a good hard freeze reduces the toxicity and they will immediately take advantage and feed on them. This image pretty much verifies that fact. I have images from three different years when this occurred and when the sheep got in the alder's they didn't leave for two or three weeks. Denali Park, Alaska.
  • A really great ram. 2009.9.16#028.6. Browsing on Mountain Alders with fall colors coming on. Denali Park, Alaska.
  • A really good looking 9 or ten year old ram is resting on a high ridge as the sun is setting in his canyon. 2008.9.5#267.6. Denali Park, Alaska.
  • A Dall ram pursuing a Ewe close to her estrus period. 2010.11.16#142.5. Chugach Mountains, Alaska.
  • A Dall Ram and Ewe 2010.11.16#142.9. There were about 5 other Pho Pros shooting near me this day but they all left when it started to get dark. Soon after they left I got the best action images of the day. This large ram has battled with five other rams on and off all day as you can see by the hair in his broken horn tips. He was able to keep the ewe he was tending and got to breed her when she was ready. Turnagain Arm, Near Anchorage, Alaska.
  • A Dall Ram and Ewe. 2010.11.16#119.2. This ram has spent the last two days tending this ewe. He just finished breeding her. He had to battle at least 5 other rams that I saw in order to keep her. Chugach Mountains, Alaska.
  • A Great Horned Owl protecting her chicks on their nest. 2007.5.15#0407.5. Near Potter Marsh, South side of Anchorage, Alaska. A redo of an old image.
  • A Bronzed Cowbird 2019.5.27#510.6. A redo of a previous image. Madera Canyon, Santa Rita Mountains, Arizona.
  • A Bronzed Cowbird. 2019.5.27#510.7. A redo of a previously developed image. Madera Canyon, Santa Rita Mountains, Arizona.
  • A Costa's Hummingbird 2019.3.20#215.3. A redo of a previously poorly done image. Pima County, Arizona.
  • A Black-chinned Hummingbird 2023.8.16#3740.5. There were eight hummers at our feeder last night during the monsoon, but this was the only mature male. Prescott Valley, AZ.
  • One of the best bulls I ever had the good fortune to photograph. 2014.9.10#4. Savage Country, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • Bull Moose 2008.10.13#022.6. 4 or 5 months ago after upgrading my graphics card and computer screen I changed how I was developing my images. I also learned how to use a few tools that I hadn't used very much before. This and the next two images show the before and after how I've corrected the white balance and taken control of the blown out snow.
