  • A Square-legged Camel Cricket 2021.6.15#5457.3. Tropidischia xanthostoma. These are similar to a more well known and destructive Mormon Cricket. We encountered several large swarms on Route 95 near Oravada Nevada.

  • Eastern Chipmunk. 2012.5.7#259. A one-eyed individual rests on an unusual pile of boulders that are Olivine Diabase. The Diabase formed deep in the earth during the early Jurassic period. Unusual circumstances uplifted the Olivine & Pyroxene sills to the surface during the Pleistocene Epoch. Extreme freezing conditions broke the sills into jumbled piles and fields of "Ringing Rocks". Bucks County PA is one of only three areas in the Northeast US these lithiophonic "Ringing Rocks" occur.
