Highlight Gallery & New Additions-Updated 2023.9.19.

The Images in this gallery are in random order, they represent some of the best that you can see many more of in the main body of Galleries.
Several months ago I had to upgrade my Graphics Card and Computer Screen. It made me aware of images I posted in too big of a hurry and others that I could develop better. I'm slowly going through this gallery first and trying to upgrade as many as possible.
Samples of the most recently added images are now being added to the beginning pages. All Images in this Gallery are protected by US copyright law. No images may be copied or downloaded without formal written permission from Tom Jesiolowski/Northland Arts Nature Images.

The same ram in the previous image. 2015.5.17#1014.5. Montana. A redo.

  • A Dall Ram has come down off the Healy Range to cross the Savage River and climb the Savage Canyon to Primrose Ridge. The dull light and contrast have tortured me for six years trying to develop this series of images. I've learned a few new techniques and am redeveloping some of these image's. 2017.8.30#259.5. Savage Canyon, Denali Park, Alaska. I wouldn't have spent so much time on these but this was my last time at Denali as I was driving my truck down to our new home in Arizona.
  • Dall rams crossing the Savage River. 2017.8.30#270.6. Same story as the previous image.
  • A crazy bull moose thrashing trees 2007.11.16#142c7. A bull I've known for a number of years with a #55 ear tag from Fish & Game. He's gotten into trouble a few times around the airport. Anchorage, Alaska. Another image I've redeveloped.
  • A goofy antlered bull tending a cow. 2014.9.9#114.4. This image and the next half dozen are a group I have redeveloped. Denali Park, Alaska.
  • A small bull moose still in velvet. 2014.8.31#352.5. Savage Country, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • A goofy antlered bull moose. 2014.9.9#238.5. Savage Country, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • A bull moose in a fleming display. 2015.8.29#509.5. The estrus hasn't started yet but this bull is following a cow. Savage Country, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • Two really great Bull Moose. 2009.9.4#145.6. In a sparring match getting ready for the actual rut. Denali Park, Alaska.
  • A really outstanding bull moose. 2014.9.2#327.6. I first saw this bull in full velvet start rubbing brush soon after sun up this day. He wouldn't leave this cow so he got interrupted a lot. It's 7:30 in the evening now and just about cleaned off. Savage Country, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • A real fight between two interior Grizzly's. 1979.9. Cliffs above the Toklat River. Denali Park Alaska.
  • Not a good image photographically, but I think the first image I ever captured that gained real notoriety.1977.9#17.4c. I first discovered the larger Grizzly on the left in a patch of blueberries along the Toklat River. The grizzly on the right showed up and trapped me between the two. Luckily the larger bear winded the other and chased it up into these cliffs above the Toklat. I have developed and redeveloped this image for 46 years now always with a disappointing result, but it was one of the most defining events that pushed me to learn and become a better outdoor and wildlife photographer. Toklat River, Denali Park, Alaska.
  • My best ever image of a male Ring-necked Pheasant. 2022.5.20#9452.5. Especially with the inflated wattles. Camas Prairie near Grangeville Idaho.
  • A really handsome male Trogon. 2019.4.30#1746.4. Madera Canyon, Santa Rita Mountains, Arizona. Another of my many redo's.
  • An American Dipper 2011.7.21#282.3. A fun bird to watch dive and catch minnows under water. Kenai Peninsula Alaska.
  • A male cinnamon color phase Black Bear. 2019.6.20#598.3. He is intently following a smaller female cinnamon phase Black Bear. Lamar River Canyon, Yellowstone Park, Wyoming.
  • Sea Otter 2016.8.4#688.6. What great entertainment and fun getting to watch these critters when they are diving for mussels or urchins and cleaning themselves. Resurrection Bay, Seward, Alaska. Another image I've redeveloped with new equipment and having learned better techniques.
  • A really extraordinary Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep. 2015.5.17#1318.6. Browsing on the blooms of Arrowleaf Balsamroot. Montana.
  • And another extraordinary Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep. 2015.5.17#1119.5. Montana. A redo.
  • The same ram in the previous image. 2015.5.17#1014.5. Montana. A redo.
  • 1997.5.16#5670.6. An old analog image I came across and scanned from a 4x6 photo. I thought it was all scratched at first but then realized it was sheep hair in the air. These two rams postured and pushed each other around for quite a long time. The big ram would allow the younger one to butt heads with him. I guess to teach him how it would be when he grew up and it was for real! Savage Canyon, Denali Alaska.
