  • AK-2003.6.30#8b3. This was my place quite a few times...where I lived for a day or two or three when I climbed to the Gunsight Summit of Sheep Mountain. This is one of my Birthday climbs. I climb every year I can on my B-Day but Sheep Mountain is a regular every other or 3rd year. Great view!!! And some really good Sheep to photograph. The South Fork and the Chugach Mountains are in the background to the south. I often observed and photographed aircraft flying below me from this camp.
  • AK-2003.8.27#7. There was a long dry spell this summer when Mary Lou and I discovered this tundra pond almost dried up. We knew right away these fine dirt and gravel deposits were very out of the ordinary and couldn't figure out what caused them. I called a friend Vernon Orange who was a geologist. He suspected they were deposited on the top of ice. As the ice thawed out they washed into depressions and were left in this pattern when all the ice thawed. Eastern Denali country, near McClaren Pass, Alaska.

  • AK-2005.8.6#0249.1x. I was heading south down Turnagain Arm when I looked out on the Inlet and couldn't believe my eyes. That guy with the orange aircraft lost power and had to ditch it in Turnagain Arm. Turnagain Arm has the second most dangerous plus minus tides in the world after the Bay of Fundy in eastern Canada. I don't remember the details but I heard they got it going and were able to fly it out of there. Viewed from the Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm just south of Anchorage Alaska.
  • AK-2006.5.22#0229.4. An Alaska Railway passenger train passing Potter Marsh. Coming back from Seward Alaska with a back drop of the Kenai Mountains in Alaska behind them. Potter Marsh is just south of Anchorage Alaska.
  • AK-2006.5.24#0010.1X. Camp Caswell, a really unconventional building for "Bush" Alaska. View from the Parks Highway near Caswell Creek Alaska.
  • AK-2006.7.12#0015. Fireweed in front of towering Cumulus that will probably end this nice hot sunny day with thunder storms in the Nelchina Basin. Alaska.
  • AK-2006.7.12#0141c4. Kind of a surreal scene. Lightning has struck numerous places around the foothills of Mount Fairplay and is burning as stringers of fire. Shot from the Taylor Highway Route 5 Alaska.
  • AK-2006.7.13#0090. Fireweed, one of the first colonizers after the forest burns. Taylor Highway, Alaska.

  • AK-2007.7.16#217.4XX. Igloo City, milepost 188.7 on the Parks Highway, south of Cantwell Alaska. This is a shot back in the "Old Days" when it was still in good shape. Without a doubt one of the most recognizable landmarks on the whole length of the Parks Highway Alaska.
  • AK-2008.3.25#230. I was still making my way off the mountain above Turnagain Arm near Windy Point when the sun set across Cook Inlet and the Alaska Range, Alaska.
  • AK-2008.4.10#073.4. The footbridge across Six Mile Creek near the Hope turnoff. Kenai Peninsula Alaska.
